Concepción Aguilar Alcántara
Concepción Aguilar Alcántara is known as the "painter" of the Aguilar family, and it shows in her palette: soft, luminous colors that give her clay figures an almost porcelain quality. She's known both for her elegant, expressive Catrinas, the skeleton figures central to Day of the Dead tradition, full of humor and character rather than anything grim. A real love of nature runs through her other work: birds, flowers, and animals often woven directly into the figures themselves.
