Folk Heart Cafe's Story

I'm so glad you found us

Welcome!

Some people stumble into Folk Art and never quite find their way back out. Fortunately, I'm one of them!

I'm Leslie, the collector and storyteller behind Folk Heart Cafe. The name says it all, really. The folk and the heart are self-evident, but "cafe" carries more of a dream: a future gallery and cafe space that is colorful, quirky and whimsical. A place to linger over a cup of something warm, gather and share in the stories these works hold, as vibrant and soulful as the art itself.

My journey began about fifteen years ago, in my mid-twenties, long before I had a name for what I was falling in love with. I was drawn to the fascinating, soulful characteristics of the pieces I found, mesmerized by the entire world each one seemed to hold. It wasn't until later that I understood I was collecting something with a history, a legacy and a profound cultural significance.

Over the last decade, that love has deepened. I've spent countless hours with artists in their workshops, learning about techniques passed down through generations, and understanding the cultural contexts that give these pieces their meaning and power.

Folk Heart Cafe represents the culmination of this journey. It's a space dedicated to celebrating the artists, the traditions and the stories that make folk art so vital and alive. Here, you'll find carefully curated pieces that speak to the soul, objects that carry history, culture and the unmistakable mark of human hands and hearts.

Whether you're a longtime collector or discovering folk art for the first time, I invite you to explore, to ask questions and to fall in love with these works as I have.
