Guillermina Aguilar Alcántara is a cornerstone of the Aguilar dynasty, widely regarded as a 'Gran Maestra' for her deep mastery of traditional Oaxacan clothing and festive customs in clay. Building upon the legacy of her mother, Isaura Alcántara Díaz, Guillermina’s work is celebrated for its remarkable expressiveness and 'living' quality. She specializes in complex dioramas of weddings, baptisms, and market scenes. With a career spanning over five decades, her sculptures are prized by international collectors for their profound cultural soul and extraordinary hand-modeled detail.

I focus on finding works that tell a story of a specific place and people, often visiting remote regions to find traditional art that isn't found in typical markets. I look for the beauty in the "imperfections" that only human hands can create.
